Department of International Trade

Program Introduction

The Department of International Economics and Trade was established in May 1997. It currently offers one undergraduate program: International Economics and Trade. In 2003, the department obtained the qualification to enroll academic postgraduates in International Trade. In 2010, it gained the qualification to enroll students in the Master of International Business (MIB) program. The department has 15 full-time faculty members, including 3 full professors, 7 associate professors, and 5 lecturers. Among them, 13 hold doctoral degrees, 4 of whom obtained their doctorates from renowned overseas universities. Many faculty members have experience in overseas further education, exchanges, and visits. The faculty team includes 1 talent from Shenzhen's "Peacock Plan", 1 overseas high-level talent in Shenzhen, 1 reserve talent in Shenzhen, 1 "Liyuan Scholar" of Shenzhen University, and 1 "Liyuan Excellent Youth" of Shenzhen University. The faculty has established the China Institute for Quality Economic Development and the Shenzhen Education and Research Expert Studio. These platforms not only provide cutting-edge theoretical and practical knowledge for teaching but also support in-depth scientific research. In the past five years, faculty members have published over 50 papers, published more than 6 monographs and textbooks, and presided over or participated in more than 25 research projects.

Undergraduate Education

Training Objectives

To cultivate compound talents with good ideological quality, comprehensive humanistic qualities, a interdisciplinary knowledge structure, a strong sense of social responsibility, excellent professional ethics, innovative awareness, academic literacy, and strong adaptability.

Students of this program should systematically master the basic principles of Marxist economics, as well as the fundamental theories of Western economics, international economics, and international trade. They should acquire knowledge and skills in international trade practices, correctly understand and grasp the operating mechanisms and development laws of international economy and trade, be familiar with international economic and trade rules, conventions, and the economic and trade policies and regulations of different countries. Additionally, students should master the basic content, processes, and skills of international marketing and cross-border e-commerce, and proficiently use an international language and information and communication technologies to engage in foreign-related economic work. Graduates can pursue careers in practical operations, management, research and planning, and theoretical research in foreign economic and trade sectors, government agencies, financial securities institutions, etc.

Degree Award

The standard study duration of this program is four years, and graduates will be awarded a Bachelor of Economics degree.
