Professional Introduction

The Economics program is a foundational discipline in the field of economics, serving as the cornerstone for further studies in other specialized areas of theoretical and applied economics. It is among the earliest programs established after the founding of Shenzhen University, boasting a long-standing history. Adhering to the concept of "elite education," the undergraduate program in Economics takes cultivating high-caliber talents as its guiding ideology and carries out education aimed at nurturing excellence. In line with the principles of "careful selection, lean management, and intensive cultivation," the program controls student enrollment numbers, prioritizes quality, innovates training models, strengthens students' mathematical foundations, appropriately raises academic requirements, and adds courses in mathematics and advanced economics to expand students' capabilities and career prospects. In recent years, a number of graduates have been admitted to prestigious domestic and international universities for postgraduate studies, including Fudan University, the University of Edinburgh (UK), the University of Warwick (UK), University College Dublin (Ireland), and the University of Toulouse (France). The employment rate of graduates exceeds 95%, with their careers mainly concentrated in fields such as economy, finance, and trade. Currently, the Department of Economics has 15 full-time faculty members, including 4 professors, 5 associate professors, and 6 lecturers. Among them, 14 hold doctoral degrees. The full-time faculty comprises outstanding talents who graduated from top domestic universities and renowned institutions at home and abroad, including those in Hong Kong, China and Japan. They possess solid theoretical foundations in economics, strong research capabilities, and a global perspective. The teaching staff is highly competent with remarkable achievements in teaching and research. They have undertaken one National Social Science Fund project, multiple provincial and ministerial-level research projects, and won numerous national, provincial, and municipal awards. A number of their research papers have been fully reprinted in *Xinhua Digest*.

Cultivation Objectives

To cultivate well-rounded professionals with comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor. Graduates will possess a solid foundation in Marxist economic theory, familiarity with modern Western economic theories, proficiency in contemporary economic analysis methods, a broad knowledge spectrum, and the ability to expand into related economic fields. They will be skilled in using foreign languages and computers to engage in economic analysis, forecasting, planning, and management in government research departments, financial institutions, and enterprises.

Degree Awarded

This program primarily confers the Bachelor of Economics. Students may also pursue a dual-degree program.
