I. Admission Majors and Procedures

II. Study Mode and Duration of the Program

1. The study mode is full-time.

Type of program: Full-time

2. The standard duration of study is 4 years, with a maximum limit of 8 years.

III. Application Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport, aged between 18 and 25 years old. They shall be in good health, of good conduct, and abide by Chinese laws, regulations, and the university’s rules and regulations.

(1) Science and engineering programs: HSK Level 4 with a score of 180 or above

* Applicants whose native language is Chinese or English may be exempted from providing the corresponding language proficiency certificate upon approval by the university.

4. Applicants must comply with the provisions of Document No. 12 [2020] issued by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.

They shall abide by the regulations stipulated in Document No. 12 [2020] of the Ministry of Education.

Document No. 12 [2020] of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China states:

"1. In accordance with Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, a person born with foreign nationality whose parents (both or one of them) are Chinese citizens and have settled abroad shall not possess Chinese nationality. Starting from 2021, when applying for undergraduate or junior college studies in Chinese institutions of higher education as an international student, in addition to meeting other application qualifications of the institution, such applicants shall hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for 4 years (inclusive) or more, and have a record of actual residence abroad for more than 2 years within the most recent 4 years (by April 30th of the enrollment year). (A full 9 months of actual residence abroad in a year shall be counted as one year, subject to entry and exit stamps.)

2. Residents of the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan who have emigrated and obtained foreign nationality, when applying for undergraduate or junior college studies in Chinese institutions of higher education as international students, shall meet the requirements specified in Item 1 of this notice."

Document No. 12 [2020] issued by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China is administered by the university. There are two key points in this document that require attention. Firstly, in accordance with Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, a person whose parents are both Chinese citizens and have settled abroad, or one of whose parents is a Chinese citizen and has settled abroad, and who acquired foreign nationality at birth, shall not possess Chinese nationality. Starting from 2021, students applying to study in Chinese universities or junior colleges as international students shall meet the following additional requirements:

1) The applicant must hold a valid foreign passport or other relevant internationally recognized documents for at least 4 years; meanwhile, within the most recent 4 years (by April 30th of the university enrollment year), the applicant must have resided abroad for more than 2 years (9 months of actual residence abroad in a year shall be regarded as one year, subject to entry and exit stamps on the passport).

2)Applicants who have emigrated from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan to other countries and obtained foreign nationality, when applying to study in Chinese universities or junior colleges as international students, must meet the requirement specified in 1).

IV. Application Period and Procedures

(Ⅰ) Application Period

(Ⅱ) Application Procedure

1. Please log in to the website of the College of International Exchange (CIE) at http://lxs.szu.edu.cn/ to register online.

2. Enter the system to fill in personal information and visa details, upload materials and proof of application fee payment as required, and submit the application.

V. Application Materials

Current high school seniors may provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by their attending high school. (The official graduation certificate must be obtained before enrollment, and will be inspected upon enrollment.)

7. Applicants applying for the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong should download the *Application Form for Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong*, fill it out completely, and then upload it.

8. Applicants applying for the Liyuan Scholarship are required to provide two recommendation letters from the school or teachers (with the recommender’s signature, email address, and contact phone number) and a study plan in China (about 500 words).

VI. Admission Process

1. After the application deadline, each academic college will organize an expert review panel to conduct professional evaluation of the application materials. If necessary, remote or in-person interviews may be arranged.

4. Admitted students must use the *Admission Notice* and *Foreigner Student Confirmation Form* (JW202) to apply for an X1 visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate. They must convert the X1 visa to a study-related residence permit within 30 days of arriving in China. Those who fail to complete the relevant procedures within the time limit will be dismissed. The university does not accept students registering with non-study visas.

Admitted students should apply for an X1 visa at the Chinese embassy (or consulate) in their country of residence with the *Admission Notice of Shenzhen University* and *Foreigner Student Confirmation Form (Form JW202)*, and convert the X1 visa to a foreign student residence permit within 30 days of entry. Students who fail to apply for the relevant visa and residence permit will be required to withdraw. SZU does not accept students with non-student visas for enrollment.

5. Admitted students must register at the university according to the date and location specified in the *Admission Notice*. Early registration is not accepted.

6. Original graduation certificates, language proficiency certificates, etc., will be verified during registration. Those who fail to provide the certificates or whose certificates fail verification will have their admission qualification canceled.

VII. Fees

1. Application Fee: 400 RMB / 60 USD. Once paid, the application fee is non-refundable. Applications with unpaid application fees will not be processed.

3. Accommodation and Insurance

(1) Accommodation: The Yuelong Campus offers single rooms and double rooms for selection, with fees ranging from 2,400 to 8,000 RMB per person per semester; the Lihu Campus provides quadruple rooms at 750 RMB per person per semester. Students are required to pay accommodation fees according to the room type. (Water and electricity fees are charged separately.)

Accommodation: Yuelong Campus has single rooms and double rooms, with fees ranging from 2,400 to 8,000 RMB per student per semester. (2) Insurance: 400 RMB per semester. International students must purchase the group comprehensive insurance designated by Shenzhen University. They should buy the insurance at the College of International Exchange during registration. Those who fail to purchase the insurance as required will not be able to complete the enrollment registration.
