On December 12, 2024, the Young Scientists' Sub-Forum of the School of Economics, Shenzhen University was successfully held in Room 1101, Mingde Building, Lihu Campus. The forum attracted over 40 outstanding young scholars from both inside and outside the university to participate online and offline, providing participants with a valuable opportunity to communicate face-to-face with excellent young scientists in the field, which will have a positive impact on the construction of the college's talent training system.

First of all, Professor Zheng Zunxin, Dean of the School of Economics, extended a warm welcome to all young scholars in his opening speech and gave a detailed introduction to the school's development history, discipline construction, faculty team, talent training and other aspects. He pointed out that the School of Economics has developed rapidly in recent years and has achieved remarkable results in many fields. The school currently offers five majors, namely Economics, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, and International Economics and Trade, among which Economics, Finance and Accounting are national first-class majors. In terms of discipline construction, the school has a first-level doctoral program and master's program in Theoretical Economics, a first-level master's program in Applied Economics, as well as a first-level discipline in Statistics and a second-level discipline in Accounting. The faculty team has been continuously expanding, with about 120 full-time teachers, including a number of national, provincial and municipal-level talents, who have made fruitful achievements in teaching and scientific research. The school attaches great importance to the innovation of talent training models and has established a number of innovative experimental classes to provide students with diversified development paths.

Professor Yi Zelong, Vice Dean, conducted an in-depth interpretation of the talent policies of the university and the school. He introduced the university's talent echelon construction, including relevant information on the pre-tenure and tenure-track system, the "Hundred Talents Program", and postdoctoral positions. In terms of research support, the university and the school provide young scholars with sufficient research start-up funds, a variety of research support policies, and a sound research performance evaluation system. Meanwhile, the university offers competitive salary packages and, supported by the advantageous policies of the Greater Bay Area, provides a series of benefits for talents, such as talent housing, medical care, and children's education, so as to solve their worries in life.

In the academic exchange session, directors of each department and heads of research centers introduced the situations of their respective units. Professor Zhang Keting, Director of the Department of Economics; Professor Xu Xiaoguang, Director of the Department of Finance; Associate Professor Lin Zhiwei, Associate Director of the Department of Accounting; Associate Professor Zhu Liang, Associate Director of the Department of International Economics and Trade; Associate Professor Yang Ao, Associate Director of the Department of Statistics; Associate Professor Luo Hao, Associate Director of the Department of Supply Chain Management; Professor Chen Ying, Director of the Department of Risk Management and Insurance; and Assistant Professor Ni Yingzhao from the Financial and Accounting Experimental Center, respectively introduced the professional construction, talent training models, and research achievements in their respective fields, and welcomed young scholars to join in promoting academic research together.


Associate Professor Liu Chao, a representative of young teachers, shared her experience after joining the School of Economics. In terms of teaching, she felt that the university attaches great importance to the cultivation of young teachers' teaching abilities, and through teaching training and mentor guidance, their teaching standards are continuously improved. In terms of scientific research, the school provides abundant academic resources and a good research atmosphere, encouraging teachers to actively participate in research projects and academic exchange activities. In terms of life, the humanistic care of the school makes her feel warm, and various activities organized by the Party branch have enhanced the cohesion among teachers. She also mentioned that with the support of the school, she has obtained funding for a number of research projects after joining, which has provided strong support for her personal research development.


In the interactive communication session, young scholars actively asked questions about teaching and research, career development, and talent introduction. Leaders of the school and teacher representatives answered them patiently one by one, and the atmosphere at the scene was enthusiastic. The participating young scholars have expressed that this forum has provided them with an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the School of Economics and made them feel the academic vitality and development potential of the school.


The successful holding of this forum has not only provided a platform for young scholars to display their academic achievements and exchange ideas, but also injected new vitality into the School of Economics in attracting outstanding talents, strengthening discipline construction, and promoting academic innovation.
